Hang Kang nació en la ciudad de Gwangju en noviembre de 1970. En 1993, publicó su poema "El Invierno de Seúl" y otros cuatro poemas en la revista literaria trimestral Literatura y Sociedad. En 1994, debutó con el relato "El ancla escarlata" al ganar el Concurso Literario de Primavera del Periódico Seúl. Sus publicaciones incluyen colecciones de cuentos como "El amor de Yeosu", "Fruto de mi mujer", "El diseño amarillo de la enernidad"; novelas como "El venado negro", "Tus frías manos", "La vegetariana", "Pelea de aliento", "La hora de griego", "Actos humanos", "Blanco", "I Do Not Bid Farewell" y una colección de poemas "I Put The Evening in The Drawer". Recibió el Premio al Artista Joven de Hoy, el Premio Literario de Novela Coreana, el Premio Literario Yi Sang, el Premio Literario Hwang Soon-won, el Premio Literario Manhae, el Premio Literario Kim Yu-jung, el Premio Internacional Man Booker y el Premio Literario Malaparte.

1970년 11월 광주에서 태어났다. 1993년 계간문예지 《문학과사회》에 시 「서울의 겨울」 외 4편을 발표하고 이듬해인 1994년 서울신문 신춘문예에 단편소설 「붉은 닻」이 당선되며 등단. 소설집 『여수의 사랑』, 『내 여자의 열매』, 『노랑무늬영원』, 장편소설 『검은 사슴』, 『그대의 차가운 손』, 『채식주의자』, 『바람이 분다, 가라』, 『희랍어 시간』, 『소년이 온다』, 『흰』, 『작별하지 않는다(I Do Not Bid Farewell)』, 시집 『서랍에 저녁을 넣어 두었다』를 출간했다. 오늘의젊은예술가상, 한국소설문학상, 이상문학상, 황순원문학상, 만해문학상, 김유정문학상, 맨부커 국제상, 말라파르테문학상 등을 수상했다.

Born in November 1970 in Gwangju, Han Kang debuted as a poet in 1993 by publishing a group of her poems, including the poem “Seoul Winter,” in the literary journal Literature and Society. She debuted as a novelist in 1994 by winning the Seoul Shinmun Spring Literary Contest for her story “Red Anchor.” She is the author of the short story collections Yeosu, Fruits of My Woman, Fire Salamander, the novels Black Deer, Your Cold Hands, The Vegetarian, The Wind Is Blowing, Greek Lessons, Human Acts, The White Book, I Do Not Bid Farewell, and the poetry collection I Put the Evening in the Drawer. She and her work have received many awards, including the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Today’s Young Artist Award, the Korean Fiction Award, the Yi Sang Literary Award Grand Prize, the Hwang Sun-won Literary Award, the Manhae Literary Award, the Kim Yu-jeong Literary Award, the Man Booker Interational Prize, and the Malaparte Prize.
