Young is a cynical yet fun-loving Korean student who pinballs from home to class to the beds of recent Tinder matches. He and Jaehee, his female best friend and roommate, frequent nearby bars where they suppress their anxieties about their love lives, families, and money with rounds of soju and freezer-chilled Marlboro Reds. Yet in time even Jaehee settles down, leaving Young alone to care for his ailing mother and find companionship in his relationships with a series of men, including one whose handsomeness is matched by his coldness, and another who might end up being the great love of his life.
Anton Hur was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He has translated Man Asia Literary Prize-winner Kyung-Sook Shin's The Court Dancer and Violets, Booker International Prize-longlisted Hwang Sok-yong's The Prisoner, and others. He won a PEN/Heim grant for his translation of Bora Chung's Cursed Bunny. He is the translator of Booker International-longlisted Love in the Big City (by Sang Young Park) and Booker International-shortlisted Cursed Bunny (by Bora Chung). He is also a featured author in Tilted Axis’s forthcoming anthology Violent Phenomena: 21 Essays in Translation (edited by Dr Kavita Bhanot & Jeremy Tiang). He lives in Seoul.

『대도시의 사랑법』은 화려하게 반짝이는 서울의 밤, 그리고 그 뒤를 잇는 황량한 아침을 함께 그려낸 활기차고 유쾌하며 감동적인 소설이다. 냉소적이지만 쾌활한 한국 학생 '영'은 집과 교실을 오가며 틴더에서 매칭된 상대와 만남을 갖는다. 그리고 그의 절친이자 룸메이트인 여성 '재희'와 근처 술집을 방문하여 소주를 마시고 냉동실에 넣어둔 말보로 레드를 피우며 연애, 가족, 돈에 대한 불안감을 억누른다. 하지만 시간이 흘러 재희가 안정된 삶을 찾아 떠나자 영은 홀로 남아 병든 어머니를 간병하게 된다. 그는 잘생긴 외모만큼이나 차가운 태도의 남자, 일생일대의 위대한 사랑이 될지도 모르는 남자를 비롯, 여러 남자와의 관계 속에서 동반자를 찾아본다.
스웨덴 스톡홀름 출생. 맨아시아문학상 수상에 빛나는 신경숙 작가의 <리진>과 <바이올렛>, 부커상 인터내셔널 부문 1차 후보로 선정되었던 황석영 작가의 <수인> 등 다수의 한국문학 작품을 영어로 번역했다. 정보라 작가의 <저주토끼>를 번역하여 PEN/Heim 문학 번역 지원금 대상자로 선정되기도 하였다. 그가 번역한 박상영 작가의 <대도시의 사랑법>은 2022 부커상 인터내셔널 부문 1차 후보에, 정보라 작가의 <저주토끼>는 최종 후보에 올랐다. 틸티드 액시스(Tilted Axis) 출판사에서 출간을 앞두고 있는 <Violent Phenomena: 21 Essays in Translation>에 그의 글이 실릴 예정이다. 현재 서울에 거주 중이다.
